César Franck
César Franck (1822-1890) was a pianist, organist and composer born in Belgium, although he lived most of his life in France.
While he had a considerable musical reputation in his day, few of his works have remained widely played since. One of these is his Sonata for Violin and Piano, one of the foremost examples of its type in the repertoire and also arranged for flute or cello.
