Witold Lutoslawski
Witold Lutoslawski (1913-1994) was a Polish composer and conductor.
He was considered one of the finest composers of the 20th century, writing in a wide range of orchestral colours and textures. He composed four symphonies, several concertos and a quantity of chamber music. Perhaps his best known and acclaimed work was his Concerto for Orchestra, written in 1954. He was awarded Poland's highest honour, the Order of the White Eagle, just weeks before his death.
