Herbert Howells


Herbert Howells (1892-1983) was an English composer, born in Gloucestershire.

He wrote a considerable amount of sacred choral music, including a number of anthems and many works written for specific cathedrals, including Kings College Cambridge and St. Pauls in London.

He also wrote a selection of chamber music including a clarinet sonata composed in 1946. Accompaniment tracks for Howells’ Clarinet Sonata are available on this website and a link can be found below.
