Paul Taffanel
Paul Taffanel (1844-1908) was a French flautist and composer.
He was the founder of what became known as the French Flute School, a way of playing which encouraged vibrato and employed a light even tone across all registers. He was also chief conductor at the Paris Opéra for over a decade, the first flautist to hold this post.
