Joseph Horovitz composed these Two Majorcan Pieces in 1958, and they illustrate the character of two of the island's most celebrated towns. Paguera is a popular beach resort in the south west of the island, while Valdemosa is particularly well known for being associated with the composer Frederic Chopin, who lived there along with the writer George Sand in the winter of 1839.
