The song Estrallita, composed in 1912, is the best known work by the Mexican composer Manuel Ponce. The great violinist Jascha Heifetz heard the song in Mexico City in 1923 while on a world tour, and set about creating an arrangement for violin and piano. This arrangement has itself become a well loved work among violinists, and a piano accompaniment is presented here in the adventurous key of F sharp major.
