Piano accompaniment backing tracks
Dmitri Shostakovich composed his cello sonata in 1934, and it has become a core work in the cello repertoire. The first movement is in a recognisable sonata form while the second is in the style of a moto perpetuo. The third movement Largo is the emotional heart of the work, with the soloist instructed to play con sordino (with mute). The finale is in the form of a rondo and is a highly energetic conclusion of the work for both performers.
These piano accompaniment tracks help make practising more effective and enjoyable! They are recorded by a professional accompanist and can help you keep in tune and in time, as you listen to the piano part for this work. Please scroll down for samples and details of each movement.
